Montrose Favorite Riel Closing Its Doors After Eight Years

Riel, the acclaimed Montrose restaurant known for chef Ryan Lachaine’s creative take on Gulf Coast and Eastern European flavors, is set to close after dinner service on August 30.

Open since 2017 and beloved for dishes like butter burgers and pierogis, the spot has struggled with rising costs and industry changes—just like so many other Houston restaurants lately.

Lachaine thanked the community for its support and hinted that this won’t be his last act, so fans are already wondering what he’ll cook up next.
